Старейший музей изящных искусств и художественное училище страны в г. Филадельфии, шт. Пенсильвания. Основаны в 1805. Академия - правопреемница т.н. Колумбианума [Columbianum], созданного, в свою очередь, на основе школы рисования, учрежденной в 1791 Чарлзом Пилом [ Peale, Charles Willson]. Играет существенную роль в культурной жизни страны. Картины и скульптуры, приобретенные ею за последние 175 лет, предоставляют уникальную возможность наблюдать развитие художественных стилей. Музей входит в тройку крупнейших художественных музеев США. Выставки, проводившиеся Академией ежегодно в 1811-1969, были важными событиями в жизни страны. Современное здание академии, в архитектуре которого слились элементы византийского искусства, французской готики и Ренессанса, было построено по проекту местного архитектора Ф.
